Activities Fair!

September 23rd, 2009 by gameguy43

If you’re looking at this because you just heard about us at the activities fair, welcome!

From our about page:

Dartmouth Free Culture is an activist org fighting for essential freedoms in the digital age. We’re all about sharing and collaboration in all fields, including creative work, scholarly work, and software. We’re aligned with a number of parallel movements, such as the Free Software movement, the movement for Open Access to scholarly research, the movement for OpenCourseWare, and the movement for broad adoption of open licenses such as those provided by Creative Commons.

To get involved or hear about what we’re up to:
*join our mailing list
*contact Parker Phinney if you have trouble with the above or want to get involved at the administrative level
*come to meetings! (time/place TBD. subscribe to the mailing list to be notified, or watch this space)
*subscribe to the rss feed for this blog

A special welcome to the class of 2013. See you in meetings, or during one of the crazycool events we have planned for this year!

Dartmouth Joins Four Other Big Names in Compact for Open Access

September 20th, 2009 by gameguy43

This is a great step towards the ideal of an Open University. Epic win for Dartmouth, as well as the other four. Here’s to hoping that Students for Free Culture will be involved in future stuff like this!

Harvard has a page that breaks the news. The compact has its own website. Also, the Dartmouth library has a site with more info specific to Dartmouth.
